Zussen / Sisters

Mijn (schoon)zusjes zijn de allerliefsten van de hele wereld. Wat is het leuk om thuis te komen na je vakantie en er staat een vers geplukte bos bloemen uit de tuin van zus te pronken in de kamer. En een gevulde koelkast met wat levenswaar zodat je niet meteen naar de supermarkt hoeft met je duffe jet-leg hoofd!

My sisters (in-law) are the sweetest in the whole world. How wonderful it is to come home after a vacation and find beautiful fresh picked flowers from your sisters garden in your living room. And a filled fridge so you don't have to run to the supermarket right away with your jet-leg head.

Verse bloemen van buiten / fresh outdoor flowers

Buiten bloeien onze annabelles weer uitbundig dit jaar. 

Binnen genieten we er ook van. 

Outside our annabelles are blooming beautifully this year. 

Inside we're enjoying them too. 

Hieronder een leuk blauw emaille kannetje wat ik in Ohio vond.

De blauwe tinten in huis geven een zomers, fris gevoel. 

The blue colors give the house a fresh, summer feeling.

Cottage huisje in Ohio

Vandaag neem ik jullie mee naar een fantastisch cottage-stijl droomhuisje in Ohio bewoond door een nog fantastischer familie: Family Sanders.

Today I take you with me to a fantastic cottage style dream house
of an even more fantastic family: The Sanders.

De cottage heeft een prachtige cottage tuin.

The cottage has a beautiful cottage garden.

En, voor nederlandse begrippen, een heeeeele grote tuin. Maar voor onze amerikaanse vrienden een hele normale 'yard', zoals ze dat noemen. 

And, from the Dutch perspective, it is a verrrry big garden. 

But for our American friends, it's a very normal "yard", as they call it.

En jippie yay.... Bekah Sanders, de vrouw des huizes, gaf mij toestemming wat kiekjes van haar interieur te nemen. 

And hip-hip-hooray, Bekah Sanders, the woman of the house, gave me permission to peak around at the interior of the house and take pictures. 

Ze heeft het heel gezellig ingericht, in de stijl die bij het huis past.

She's decorated it very nicely, in the style perfect for the house.

Het lampje is zelf bekleed met jute en kant.

The lampshade is self-made with lace and fabric.

Mooi, dat uitzicht uit het raam...

En dan de wit geschilderde shabby chic piano, mijn favoriet!

Ook weer een creatief rekje gemaakt van een oude pallet, heel erg leuk!

De kast is geschilderd in de kleur 'mint' van painting the past. Hij staat erg mooi op de oude houten robuuste vloer in combinatie met het zachte roze op de muur.

The cupboard is painted "mint", from painting the past. It stands very beautifully on the old wood floor, in combination with the soft rose on the wall.

De badkamer onderging een metamorfose en is een plaatje geworden!

The bathroom underwent a metamorphosis and is as pretty as a picture!

De muren werden voorzien van oude pallet planken. Supergaaf.

The walls are covered with planks from old pallets. Super cool.

Ohio.... we missen jullie nu alweer!

Nothing more precious than fresh picked wild flowers by my two favorite men. :)

Witte piano / white piano

Lieve vrienden, 

Onze laatste aanschaf is een ... PIANO! Soms verdient je beste vriend het in het zonnetje gezet te worden, helemaal als hij helemaal voor JOU vanuit een ander continent in Nederland is komen wonen. Na overlegt te hebben met manlief of ik hem een cadeau mag geven wat ietsje boven het budget uitkomt stemde hij.. al zuchtend toe. Vrouwlief heeft het weer op haar heupen. Toch was zijn nieuwsgierigheid wel iets geprikkeld, want laten we wel wezen.. ook mannen kunnen over een gepast portie nieuwsgierigheid beschikken. Schetst zijn verbazing als na een lange werkdag een piano voor hem staat in de kamer. Ik had hem niet blijer kunnen maken. 

Dear friends,

Our most recent purchase is ... a piano! Sometimes your best friend deserves to be placed in the limelight, especially if he came all the way from another continent to Holland for YOU. After conferring with my hubby if I could give him a present a little bit above the budget, he agreed, though with a reluctant sigh. Dear wife had yet another idea. His curiosity was in any case pricked; let it be known that men also have a certain curiosity too. Imagine his surprise when after a long work day a piano stood in the room for him. It couldn't have made him happier. [That is true.-trans.]

Het moest natuurlijk wel een witte piano zijn, om bij het interieur te passen. Het is ook een digitale... aangezien we vrienden met onze buren willen blijven -niet dat manlief niet prachtig speelt, maar laten we wel wezen, zelfs de beste breister laat wel eens een steekie vallen.

It naturally did have to be a white piano, to fit in with the interior. It's also digital, considering we want to remain friends with our neighbors. Not that hubby doesn't play well but even the best miss a note now and again.

Ik zag dat ik er een aantal nieuwe volgers bij heb. Van harte welkom allemaal! Leuk al jullie reacties en berichtjes op mijn blog te lezen. 

Ik vind het altijd leuk om blogs van andere mensen te bekijken en inspiratie op te doen. Het leukste vind ik altijd een binnenkijker! Dus.. omdat het lente is, het zonnetje volop schijnt in ons kikkerlandje, vandaag een binnen- en buitenkijker van ons 'droomhuisje'.!

Pak een lekker kopje thee erbij en geniet ervan. 

I saw that I have a number of new followers of the blog. Welcome one and all! Your reactions and responses to the blog have been fun to read. I enjoy looking at other people's blogs to get inspiration. My favorites are taking a look inside/ So... because it is spring, the sun is bathing our marshy land with its brightness, today we are taking a look inside and outside of our "dreamhouse"!

De keuken hadden de meesten van jullie al gezien. Ook hier hangt een nieuwe lamp. Hij past mooi bij de 'scandinavische' cottage look waar ik van houd. 

Most of you have already seen the kitchen. A new lamp has also been hung up here. It fits in nicely with the Scandinavian cottage look that I like so much.

Deze emaille kan vond ik in Amerika. Die moest en zou mee de koffer in en heeft over de hele oceaan gereisd. Nu hangt hij te pronken in een rijtjeshuis in Boskoop. Grappig he. Ik vraag me dan altijd af in wat voor huizen hij allemaal al geweest zal zijn.

I found this emaille in America. It mades its travel over the ocean in the suitcase. And now it's proudly hanging in a rowhouse in Boskoop. Funny. What kinds of houses has he already seen I wonder.

Laaste vond ik voor een snuffie dit leuke zelfgemaakte kastje met kippengaas op een snuffelmarkt. 

Ook de bloemetjes kop en schotels vond ik op een rommelmarkt. Hoera voor rommelmarkten|!

Recently I found this nice self-made cabinet with chicken wire for a bargain at a flea market. The flowery cups and bowls were at (yet) another flea market. Hurray for flea markets [unless you're a dog!]

Deze lamp vond ik in de kringloopwinkel. Niet zo natuurlijk, het was eerst een ouwe-oma-lamp met een vieze kap erop. Maar ik zag er potentie in. Hij werd van z'n oude kap-bekleding ontdaan en schoongeschrobt. Vervolgens vond k hem er zo wel leuk uitzien, in z'n nakie zegmaar, maar uiteindelijk na een aantal maanden heb ik hem toch maar bekleed met wat manlief zou noemen, een lingerietje. :) Vind em zelf erg leuk geworden! 

I found this lamp at the corner store. Not quite like this, it was originally an old granny's lamp with a dusty lampshade on it. But I saw potential in it. The old lampshade was removed and he received a thorough cleaning. I thought he looked great undressed, but finally after a few months I clothed it with what my hubby-dear would call a little 'lingerie'.:) I think it's turned out very nice.

Aangezien het buitengewoon zacht voorjaarsweer is dit jaar zitten we in maart/ begin april al dagelijks buiten te eten op de veranda. 

Seeing that it is extraordinary spring weather, we are already regularly sitting and eating outside on the veranda.

Dit blauwe emaillen blauwe vergietje vond ik op de brocante markt in Lille, Frankrijk. 

Behalve dat ik op die markt gezakrold ben (wat ik later gelukkig terug kreeg van de verzekering) is deze markt een bezoekje meer dan waard! Tenminste... als je van brocante houd. :)

This emaille strainer I found at an antique market in Lille, France. Pick-pockets notwithstanding, this market is definitely worth visiting. At least, if you enjoy antiques....
